Dr Karthigesh (Kat) Sree Raman (MBChB, FRACP) is a Cardiologist with interests in general cardiology, cardiac imaging, cardiomyopathy and heart failure.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. After working at various district hospitals, he undertook his basic physician training followed by advanced training in Cardiology at Waikato Hospital, New Zealand.
Kat completed a further fellowship in cardiac imaging (specialising in cardiac magnetic resonance and echocardiography) at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide. During this time, he acquired additional experience in the diagnosis and management of cardiomyopathies.
Of Malaysian descent, Kat speaks fluent Malay, Tamil and English. Having practiced medicine in New Zealand and Australia, he is culturally aware and sensitive to patient’s needs. Kat is a firm believer in the benefits of early detection of cardiac diseases. By addressing cardiac risk factors, preventable steps can be taken to avoid the subsequent development of cardiac diseases such as heart failure and myocardial infarction.
Kat is currently undertaking a PhD at Flinders University, South Australia in the area of cardiac imaging. His study focuses on the novel cardiac imaging techniques for the early detection of right ventricular dysfunction in patients with pulmonary hypertension.
